DIY Fall Air Freshener

With several rainy days in a row here in Atlanta, it’s been close to impossible to get our poor, big ol’ crybaby beagle/basset Hank to go outside to do his business. And you know what that means – accidents in the house.

So let’s just say our happy home isn’t smelling so fresh at the moment, even after constant mopping and scrubbing of the kitchen floor. To Hank’s credit, however, at least he is going in the kitchen where it’s easy to clean up, and not on our rugs.

I needed to come up with a potent and inexpensive solution to the house-smelling-like-pee problem and not burn up all of our Bath & Body Works candles.

Here’s what I came up with. And now, our entire home smells like fall in the most delicious and lovely way possible.

Half of one large orange, sliced
2 tablespoons of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
2–3 cups of water

Toss all of the above ingredients into a small sauce pan. Cover and bring to a boil. Uncover and set to low, and have it simmer all day, uncovered.

Simple, easy, effective and it smells fantastic.
